In private practice for over 20 years, Arthur Friedman has arduously and effectively advocated for the rights of people accused or suspected of the full spectrum of criminal conduct in both state and federal courts.  His clients have included doctors, lawyers, accountants and ordinary citizens.  Mr. Friedman has defended people accused of crimes from murder to money laundering, driving while intoxicated to dealing street drugs.

No matter neither who the client is nor what the charge, Mr. Friedman vigorously, aggressively and effectively represents the client’s best interests at each and every stage of the criminal proceeding.  A skilled appellate lawyer, Mr. Friedman has argued cases in the federal and state appellate courts.

Arthur Friedman started his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, New York, specializing in cases involving official corruption and organized crime.  Mr. Friedman obtained the convictions of the head of a “crime family,” as well as many of his lieutenants.

Mr. Friedman served as the Assistant District Attorney in charge of the rackets and organized crime bureau in Queens County under a special gubernatorially appointed district attorney.  As a Special Assistant Attorney General, Mr. Friedman held several executive positions within the office of the New York Deputy General for Medicaid fraud, where he supervised the investigation and conviction of several notorious nursing home owners.  He also served in an executive capacity within the Office of the New York Deputy Attorney General for New York City Criminal Justice, where he supervised investigations and prosecutions of corrupt police officers and judges.

Before he entered private practice, Mr. Friedman served as Vice President and General Counsel of a premier managed-care company.  He has remained active in the health care industry, serving as a consultant to major insurers and an author on the subject.

Besides being admitted to practice in North Carolina, Mr. Friedman is admitted in the State and Federal Courts of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States.
