In large part because of the efforts of our attorneys and the organizations we work with, the North Carolina legislature made significant changes to child adoption laws. Some of these legislative changes include shortening the time period a birthparent has to revoke a decision to place the child up for adoption; easing the exchange of information to allow for an open adoption; and allowing qualified couples to advertise for adoption.
